SUTTER CREEK ELEMENTARY
Sutter Creek Elementary School consists of two campuses: the primary campus for transitional kindergarten through second grade and the upper campus for third grade through sixth grade. We are located in beautiful Sutter Creek in Amador County, a part of the picturesque Mother Lode. The two schools serve the student population of Sutter Creek and outlying areas.
We currently operate on a modified traditional calendar. Our curriculum has a strong academic focus. We respect individual differences. We believe in unlocking and supporting the strength of each child. To complement our academic emphasis, we believe that all students benefit from a variety of experiences, including but not limited to art, music, physical education, and performing arts. A well-developed student recognition program contributes to the positive environment of the school. Students are recognized for achievements in academics, life skills, and being good citizens.

Meet the Principal
Tia Peters
At Sutter Creek Elementary we take pride in the high quality education we provide for our students and in the positive school culture present on our two campuses. When visiting our campus you will see a sense of caring and high expectations are evident which shows our commitment to helping others succeed and grow. This combination creates a supportive environment that encourages personal development and achievement.
Sutter Creek Elementary started as Sutter Creek Grammar School. After a fire destroyed the original school, a large two-story brick schoolhouse was built that served as a school from 1870-1956. That building still sits on our primary school campus today and continues to be restored by the Sutter Creek Community Benefits Foundation. The old schoolhouse was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1976. The old schoolhouse serves as a reminder of our local history and the importance of education to the early settlers of Sutter Creek.
Our school consists of two separate campuses serving approximately 390 students from TK through sixth grade. We have 20 teachers on staff and about 30 support staff between the two campuses. We are located in the heart of the Mother Lode and the City is considered the Jewel of the Gold Country. Sutter Creek is a beautiful, historic, and postcard-perfect town that we are fortunate to work and live in.
Our priorities include building positive relationships with our families. Our parents and community members are an integral part of our school’s success. We encourage family members to get involved through our School Site Council, Parent Teacher Organization (SCEPTOR), or volunteering in classrooms or at one of our special events.
Go Wolverines!
